What if a simple idea could turn into a real business before graduation?
That’s exactly what happens through Invest Nest, Nebo School District’s student entrepreneurship program. Recently featured on the Finding Nemo Podcast, senior Paisley Silva from Spanish Fork High School shared how this Shark Tank–inspired competition helps students pitch business ideas, receive mentorship from local business owners, and compete for funding.
Unlike traditional pitch competitions, Invest Nest focuses on growth and mentorship. Students don’t need a fully developed business plan — just an idea and a willingness to learn. Community mentors and judges work closely with participants to refine their concepts, strengthen presentations, and develop real-world business skills.
In recent years, Nebo students have seen incredible success:
A lawn care company that placed second at state and is now a full-time business.
A student-created product, Menstrual Magic, that won $20,000 at the state competition.
Beyond the competitors, Invest Nest also gives students hands-on experience in marketing, fundraising, event planning, and leadership through the Advanced Learning Center’s capstone program.
